“Ubuntu: Propelling Voice South Africa” chronicles Ben Levine and ReVision dance company‘s collaboration with Usuthu Arts Productions in Pretoria, South Africa. Created by filmmaker David Dowling, this documentary highlights the artists’ commitment to building community both on and off stage, including their residency work with students at the Tiqwa School and at the South African State Theatre.

The trip as a whole mirrored the intention behind the piece of “community”. What we were doing in South Africa was exactly what the piece is about. Taking risks, receiving and giving support, building community cross-culturally.

The Propelling Voice Project in South Africa was support by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Sister City grant awarded to Ben Levine.
