Kennedy Center issues statement on Trump post
Donald trump took to Truth Social on Friday, February 2nd to make some bold claims regarding the presentations, goals, and leadership of the Kennedy Center.
Only a month into his 4 years, this continues Trump’s patterns of claims of hostel and illegal takeovers under the guise of salvation for the American People.
The Kennedy Center was quick to respond.
Trump cited Drag as his motive for the post, which is nothing new from the administration. Drag is an art form that has been performed at many institutions from libraries to restaurants. It appears Trump’s goal is to wipe drag from the mainstream by way of gutting any Arts organization or art related funding he can. The effects of this can be felt even at the local level as Madeline Maxine Roman recently reported her show being postponed due to a related meddling from the current administration. While Max’s show was postponed, you can still attend her Motion Mixer on February 20th.
We are only a month into Trump’s presidency, and the Arts world should be ready to start pushing back. If the Arts world and Liberals alike lie down as Bezos and Zuckerburg control social and printed media we can only expect the worst. It won’t be easy. Wealthy Conservatives are well aware that a starving artist puts up a measly fight, which is why we have to fight before we starve.
This cannot be stressed enough.
Attacks on the Drag and LGBTQ+ communities are attacks on all communities.
