You Didn’t Boycott The Kennedy Center, Now Trump Has His Name On It.

I wrote an article in February about boycotting the Kennedy Center, and despite what I would call a solid case, you decided on a Diet Boycott with Lemon.

-so Trump has renamed the Kennedy Center, placing his name first, as “The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts“.

Now I’m back to tell you that this Diet Boycott with Lemon isn’t going to work.

So what exactly is a Diet Boycott with Lemon?

A Diet Boycott with Lemon is a half-assed boycott.

It’s watered-down, and marketed as something it is not.

You said to yourself “I still want to support the artists“, so you only went to SOME shows. By doing this, you overlooked the bottom line. (-Or perhaps it was the top line all along.) That patronizing the Kennedy Center is a victory for Trump.

I cannot stress this enough, you cannot defeat Trump and patronize the Kennedy Center at the same time.

I’m saying it. Don’t go there. Don’t go to the Kennedy Center.

Not for paid events.

Not for free events.

Not to take pictures for your Hinge profile. (In fact, delete the old pic you already have by the balcony. You don’t even look like that any more. Use the one from your ski trip a few years ago. You still don’t look like that anymore, but at least it’s fun.)

Depriving the Kennedy Center of a profit margin, or a break-even scenario will force Trump‘s own board to fight against him.

I know, it feels like you’re turning your back on an old friend.

-but think of this more like a tough-love intervention.

It has reached the point where you’ve done all you can for that friend or family member, and now the ball is in their court.

Anyway, stop going to the Kennedy Center.

The buck, which I mean literally, has to stop here if any impact is to be made.

Trump renaming the Kennedy Center is just the first step, and he’ll keep stepping as long as you keep going there.

Fellow Liberals, I know we are a caring peoples, but we have to show no heart here.

Visit a local venue instead. There are a lot of them. Great ones! I promise!

We’ve reviewed shows from them here on the site.

Happy Holidays.

Don’t go to the Kennedy Center.
