Nejla Yatkin at CenterStage by Sylvana Christopher

I jumped at the chance to see and review Nejla Yatkin’s latest work; “The Other Witch”.  Yatkin is a maverick in many art fields. A visionary, Yatkin fashions theatrical dance work that is revelatory and iconoclastic. She partnered with Reston Community Center which holds a sizable space with an intimate theater, dance studio, woodshop, swimming pool, event space, art exhibition and plenty of restaurants nearby to top off the experience.

Conducted by Beatrice Jona Affron, The Kennedy Center Orchestra and Arlington Children's Chorus provide a stunning accompaniment to the ballet. The flawless ensemble production stars Dayesi Torriente as Sugar Plum, Arian Molina Soca as Cavalier, and Sydney Dolan as Dewdrop.

The Kennedy Center’s 10,000 Dreams educated & entertained Choo San Goh fans and Washington audiences eager to support this new festival. Attracted by the chance to see Choo San Goh’s work for the first time as I had heard about his beautiful work, Birds of Paradise, performed in the 80’s. This gala concert highlighted three of Goh’s works, Momentum performed by Singapore Ballet, Ballade performed by Goh Ballet with dancers from The National Ballet of China and Fives performed by The Washington Ballet.

A Hot Night of Choreo at C.H.A.W. – DC Summer Dance Showcase 2024

A hot summer night afforded the perfect opportunity to absorb the breadth of contempomodern choreography currently available in the DMV - a genre that almost defies definition as it is forever evolving.
